Quick Setup Guide for Schools

✅ Can we use Start ASL in Canvas?

Yes — our Online ASL Courses (Self-Study or Guided) can be used with Canvas by adding a link inside your course.

? Important:
This setup works only with our Online Courses.
(Offline downloads and Classroom Curriculum are not designed for Canvas integration.)

? How It Works

Students:

1. Log into Canvas
2. Click the ASL course link
3. Access and complete lessons on the Start ASL platform

? Canvas = access point
? Start ASL = learning platform

? Step 1 — Request Course Access for Your Class

Before setting up Canvas, you’ll need student course access.

? Request a School Quote to purchase course seats for your class

We’ll:

• recommend the best option (Self-Study or Guided)
• help you set up your student seats
• students will each receive an invitation email to set up their account

? Step 2 — Add Your Course to Canvas

Option 1 — Add to Modules (Recommended)

1. Go to Modules in your Canvas course
2. Click + (Add Item)
3. Select External URL
4. Paste the Start ASL Login link: https://login.startasl.com 
5. Add a title (example: ASL Course)
6. Click Add Item
7. Publish the module

Option 2 — Add as an Assignment

1. Go to Assignments
2. Click + Assignment
3. Enter a title
4. Paste the Start ASL Login link in the description: https://login.startasl.com 
5. Save and publish

Option 3 — Add to a Page

1. Go to Pages
2. Edit or create a page
3. Highlight text (example: Access ASL Course)
4. Add the Start ASL Login link: https://login.startasl.com 
5. Save and publish

• Each student will need their own Start ASL account
• They set up their account from the invitation email and login from Canvas
• Students complete all lessons on the Start ASL platform

? Grades & Progress

• Progress and grades are tracked within Start ASL
• Grades do not automatically sync with Canvas
• Teachers can manually transfer grades if needed
